The starting point for the hike is the Mirador del Racó d'en Tomàs, a spectacular coastal viewpoint overlooking the Cap Formentor lighthouse. The trail first leads through meadows and then along the mostly dry Canal de Cala en Gossalba, crossing the stream several times. The destination is the dreamy bay of Cala en Gossalba, an ideal place to take a break and enjoy the turquoise blue sea.
The rest of the trail runs through varied terrain of pine forests and open spaces and leads over a challenging climb in Torrent de les Agulles. This passage is not recommended in wet weather. At the top, you will come to the Camí vell de Far, a historic trade route or donkey path that connects Puerto Pollenca with Cap Formentor.
Optionally, you can take an additional loop to the El Fumat viewpoint at an altitude of 335 metres. From there, you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana. The descent leads to Coll de la Bretxa, from where the trail runs via Camí vell de Far and Pas de na Llosa back to the starting point at Mirador del Racó d'en Tomàs.
The hike is scenically varied and combines coastal views, quiet bays, forest sections and historic paths. The route is of medium to high difficulty, mainly due to the ascent and various passages. Good physical condition and sturdy footwear are recommended.
